Are you thinking of upgrading your current pc to one running a 64-bit version of Windows? The upgrade cost may be higher than you think – your current Hardware – Printers, Digital X Ray equipment – CR and DR scanners, printers, etc may not work with your new pc!
The Problem
Many hardware devices require device drivers to be installed to function with your pc. Previous versions of Windows used 32 bit drivers. The new 64 bit versions of Windows Vista, Win 7, Win 8 will not run 32 bit drivers. If the manufacturer of the hardware does not have a 64 bit device driver available, it will not work with the new 64 bit operating system. The older your Hardware is, the less likely it will have a 64 bit device driver available.
Solutions
Find out if your hardware has a 64 bit device driver available. Buy your new pc with the 32 bit version of Windows installed. Upgrade to a new version of your Digital X Ray devices.
